Over On Twitch

After a few months bouncing around with live streaming on a few other platforms, back in the fall of 2020 I settled on Twitch.

It was a easy decision. The sound quality is superb and the interface is friendly enough. The bonus was that for the most part the way the copyright compliance is structured plays nicely with DJs (for the most part). It certainly didn’t start off that way with one day a stream would be fine and the next day not so much.

I have been producing previews of the BSB show over there before they are distributed through podcast channels and prior to that I did the Stay House series.

Stay House is back as a pop up series. Check out the latest broadcast below.

When The Music Is Loud

It was the first thing I saw this morning. My phone served up pictures of her and I, one by one. Memories. And then the last photo was a collage of the previous pictures all together.

It was a bit much to start the day with for something that’s over.

Fortunately, my go to therapy is music. I did drop a BSB preview show the night before on Twitch. And today going through addition tunes for a likely pop-up Stay House later this week.

The Re-Binge

Many of you know that I am a geek, nerd, dork, and a huge fan of science fiction. I’m also equally picky as I am passionate about science fiction.

High on my sci-fi list is the series The Expanse which after starting on and being cancelled by SyFy was picked up by Amazon Prime. They have released a trailer for their final and sixth season recently.

And now I’m re-watching the 5 seasons in preparation for this coming season.

I have often watched very closely the music chosen to accompany series. Sometimes you can come across some overlooked gems.

This is often the case in this show. Oh to be sure there are some flops. The track used for the club scene where Nagata and Drummer are ‘hydrating’ after handball comes to mind.

One of my favorites though is in Season 2 Episode 3: Static. Amos is delivering Miller a bag of his personal effects in a bar after being kicked off the Rocinante. And in the background the song Starstruck by Santigold is playing. It is paired well with the energy of the scene, and with Amos’ wisdom to Miller, “You keep picking the wrong fights with the wrong people.”

I have re-added Starstruck to my multi-genre playlist #LiftConfidential on Spotify.

Strictly Butter Exclusive on Traxsource

My latest is now exclusive on Traxsource!

This was originally supposed to be released last year but then Covid. Ya know.

It is a tribute to the monthly pre-Covid I co-hosted called Butter at Ottobar. Sadly, background conversations has us not returning there after Covid restrictions dwindle. Afropino and I are interested in a new place to host Butter and to build on the 2 year successful run we had.

In the meantime, jam out to this!

Look At What Is Coming

What a year it’s been. First there’s a pandemic. Then there’s a pandemic on steroids.

Life has been one rolling set of shut downs since. The number and the length of them has been as numerous as places on the globe.

Fast forward, many of us are looking at the return to some type of normalcy soon. We can see the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. In that look ahead, I have received several questions regarding the return of Butter.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like we have a home at the moment.

However, while we look for a new home to emerge from this pandemic forced hibernation, I am releasing what was initially written to be a theme track for the party, titled Strictly Butter on my mGrooves Music label.

There are no upcoming events.

Along with the single, I have designed a graphic T. This shirt with its distinctive Baltimore and baseball look will be available in both classic t-shirt (unisex) style and a feminine cut.

Members of So So Fresh will have exclusive access and member only options at first, with the general access to follow after a short time.

Check back on the event page for the timing of each.

Bento Bitmix Dub

This story is from 2020 and I find it ironic.

It happened again, this being about the fourth time in as many months. I was on my side hustle driving ride share to help ends to meet.

The woman that I picked up was a bit more conversational than the typical rider. Even more unusual, she immediately launched into asking my age. Needless to say, I was taken a bit off guard.

After I (sorta) answered her question, she called me ‘Zaddy‘.

Yep, this has happened a lot over the past year actually. The most ironic part of this is that physically, I am not in that good of shape of late. In the midst of this pandemic, I have done my fair share of sitting on my ass and binge-watching Netflix. So this person’s observation did not match my self view.

I was (and am) grateful for this. It disrupted a rut I have been in for the last half of 2020.

And to remind myself from falling back into that rut, I made this remix as a reminder. I have slowly been ramping up working out again despite the cold and despite staying away from gyms to reduce Covid-19 exposure.

At this track to your workout play list!

Enjoy.

North East Regional EP

I know. I’ve been too quiet. For those who are interested, it’s a short-long story to be discussed another time.

However, some of it has been productive. North East Regional has been set for release on Jan 4th, 2021.

Associated with the release is a line of graphic t-shirts that I designed. These are available to members of the So So Fresh club at my mGrooves Music label website and social media channels.

First So So Fresh Design

There are 4 tracks on the North East Regional EP. I went down the rabbit hole into Tech House and Techno styles in this set of tunes.

For the design of the graphic for the gear, I altered a map of Amtrak’s north east regional route map with the name of the first track I was inspired to make super-imposed over top.

Take a look at the designs. Give the tunes a spin. Join So So Fresh at the level most comfortable for you! We are going to kick off 2021 with purpose!

Throwback Look To Audio Infusion

A recent weekend was the second time this summer I had the honor of preparing a mix for The Audio Infusion show.

This late night (over night) show has been one of my favorite local music institutions. In a previous non-pandemic year, I have been actually in the studio for some on-air conversations. In some years, I have actually played live for the show.

Unlike the mix prepared for Audio Infusion earlier this summer, I decided to delve into some of my older tracks instead of recent releases.

Thank you Patrick Scientific for having me on again. It was a pleasure.

Throwback Tracks In That Mix

The 12 track mix submitted for broadcast included 3 of my own released on my imprint mGrooves Music and 1 underground unreleased remix of mine. Here is a listen to the 3 released on my record label.
