This is the un-edited version of the DJ set aired April 30th in the 3AM hour on 88.9FM WEAA. In this set there are 2 of my original releases available on most digital platforms for download and streaming; and 2 of my Contraband remixes.

In this latest addition to my contraband series, I started with a sample of Esthero’s Jenny-Bea Englishman and channeled my distastes for the stereotypes rampant in dating apps.

In this latest addition to my contraband series, I have mixed a Roland Clark acapella covering a Luther classic. This track is straight fire, if I do say so myself.

Yes, I have dropped another BSB as a select mix. And I think I have the format for this going forward!
The Select mixes are an exclusive set on Mixcloud. One of the key features of these mixes is that there is no talk-over. That’s right–none of my blathering about.
Another key feature of the Select mixes is that they will have an extended length. The standard BSB runs about an hour. The BSB Select will run about 2 hours and feature a lot more tracks that you would likely hear only if you were at one of the clubs or private parties were I’m laying down the set. There is also a complete track list with every Select mix.

It’s been over a year since I switched to streaming some of my DJ sets to Twitch. I landed there for a variety of reasons but here are the key points.
Twitch wasn’t new to streaming. Having served the gaming community for a long stretch, they had much infrastructure already in place and that meant absorbing a lot of newcomers wasn’t too much of a heavy lift as it was for many other platforms expanding into that space in the middle of a pandemic.
Their overall sound and video quality in-stream was equal to or better than most of their nearest competitors.
The part where they struggled with the most was structuring their copyright compliance so that it fit what deejays do. After a few hiccups they also seem to have landed in a very good position there as well. The only platform that might be better positioned in this arena might be Mixcloud. Interestingly though, they have had some significant growing pains in the other two areas I mentioned above.
So in an effort to grow on Twitch and to satisfy all you voyeurs, this month I will start doing periodic live streams while I’m creating new music. Here’s your chance to get a peek into a part of my creative process. This is an addition to my DJ sets that I stream on that platform.

I have launched the first of a series of exclusive mixes on Mixcloud Select.
These mixes will be specialized, themed–in the mixtape type of way, and will eventually offer access to rewards at my mGrooves Music record label web site.
In this first mix, I commemorate Juneteenth and Black Music Month by highlighting some of the originators of Techno and House Music as well as some of the current Black creators in this space. It is also a very short list of some of my favorites and doesn’t come close to illuminating all that deserve to have light shine on them.

A couple of weeks ago, a comment was made that a Trap song couldn’t be made into a House Music banger. The thought I had in my head was ‘hold my beer’.
After a few months bouncing around with live streaming on a few other platforms, back in the fall of 2020 I settled on Twitch.
It was a easy decision. The sound quality is superb and the interface is friendly enough. The bonus was that for the most part the way the copyright compliance is structured plays nicely with DJs (for the most part). It certainly didn’t start off that way with one day a stream would be fine and the next day not so much.
I have been producing previews of the BSB show over there before they are distributed through podcast channels and prior to that I did the Stay House series.
