I’m starting 2020 early. Actually, I started 2020 weeks ago.
Here is my first release of the new year a few days early.
I originally wrote the prose in this track back in the summer of 2018 shortly after landing in LA. Thanks to a buddy of mine, I had the inspirational space to do some creative work while also looking after his place in Long Beach.
The music was subsequently written later that fall after returning to the east coast.
It went through a few test iterations, but basically has remained true to the original feeling.
Light and airy, Back In inspires the boldness to open to love again. It invites as does the warmth of the southern California sunshine from when the track was born.
Sketchings is a manifesto of creativity. It brings the organ and a soul clap to the dance party like a rousing performance by the choir on a Sunday morning.
The cover art is derived from a photo byJacob Matherson Unsplash with further editing by myself for my JR Design Studio technology consulting label. Release on mGrooves Music.
Recently, on my side hustle I had 3 passengers in the back seat and this track came on. I often play my LiftConfidential playlist on Spotify while driving.
It was two girls and a guy. The guy and one of the girls started chuckling and bopping to the track.
I asked them if they liked the song. The two that were full of giggles answered yes. The other girl said an emphatic ‘no’.
However, she then proceeds to comment on how it sounds like Prince.
2 out of 3
Personally, even though she said she didn’t like the track, I am going to take it as a compliment that she compared it to Prince.
But, I have to ask: even though the one girl said she didn’t like the song, do you think I should count it as a yes since she compared it to Prince?
Thanks to all those that tuned in late night Saturday night to hear my part in The Audio Infusion show on WEAA 88.9
That was only the 1st of several LoFi mixes I will be doing them over the coming months. The show’s complete track listing, including my bit is at this link.

Yeah… I have been sitting on a few. But it’s time for me to stop slackin’. Join Contraband to get them before the rest of the world… (And some bootleg remixes too!)
