Throwback Look To Audio Infusion

A recent weekend was the second time this summer I had the honor of preparing a mix for The Audio Infusion show.

This late night (over night) show has been one of my favorite local music institutions. In a previous non-pandemic year, I have been actually in the studio for some on-air conversations. In some years, I have actually played live for the show.

Unlike the mix prepared for Audio Infusion earlier this summer, I decided to delve into some of my older tracks instead of recent releases.

Thank you Patrick Scientific for having me on again. It was a pleasure.

Throwback Tracks In That Mix

The 12 track mix submitted for broadcast included 3 of my own released on my imprint mGrooves Music and 1 underground unreleased remix of mine. Here is a listen to the 3 released on my record label.

Throwback to Bixby Park and Alamitos Beach

About 3 years ago this month, I was in Bixby Park right at the the beach about the half way point between Alamitos Beach and Junipero Beach in Long Beach, CA.

And I mention this because one of my top tracks on Beatport was started while I was working in that sunshine.

This is the top three of my releases currently on Beatport!

Right About Now (Original Refreak Mix)

This track was done in about 4 hours late on a Friday night. I was home alone (which is most of my Fridays to be honest), and I was fooling around on my decks.

Long Playa (Original Mix)

This was the track mentioned at the top that was started on the very beach pictured in the header art. Much of the rest of it came together in what became one of my typical spots to hang out, Hot Java, which is just on the other side of the park.

Sketchings (Original Mix)

My latest as it was just released in late Dec 2019, I was in a mood for lots of organ keys. It is also the most favorite on Beatport at the moment .

BSBinspired

Some of you may already know that I share a few different curated playlist on Spotify.

If you don’t, let me introduce you to BSBinspired. Just at the name would suggest, the tunes in this playlist are inspired from the ones in my BSB – Brand Spanking Bought Podcast Mix show.

Some of the music that were played on my show are of limited releases and are not available on platforms like Spotify. In these cases, I have selected the originals or other remixes.

Either way, I hope you enjoy this different way of returning to some of those older shows as relive them together.

What’s your favorite track from BSB – Brand Spanking Bought?

Therapy

Making music, writing prose, making mixes, etc has been just this for me for a long long time. So long, I don’t remember when it became so.

To me it has always been since before the first piece of prose I wrote or some random tune I plucked on the piano.

What is your therapy?

Therapy

Do you wonder why
Why fire drives me so
Dispensing poetic
Rhythm from my soul

It’s the only way
I know to remain sane
To gather in the flood
To control the flame

A struggle versus the forces of nature
An epoch fight on a singular journey
To defy the test of time
To delay expiring on a gurney

The success I may have
Is all relative my dear
I could be fine for now
And still be gone next year

Blue Jeans

Well here it is. I have put it back out there.

This was my remix of Lana Del Rey’s Blue Jeans that I did a few years ago. A friend of mine in Charleston, SC was asking for it.

I personally think it goes well with her new candle and gifts company. I also think it fits my Long Beach, CA stay a bit as well.

A download link will be made available to any subscriber of 4groovers at mGrooves Music.

Tears For Fears

Tears for fears
Better than gone by years?
Certainly better than love incomplete
Tears for a love incomplete

Tears will water tomorrow’s flower
Bloom. Stretch. Stand tall. Tower.
Dawn blooms after the darkest night
And tears cool like rain in summer light.

It may feel so so far far away
But your tears foretell smiles in coming days
I see you.  And I see you. Feeling blue.
But so is the sky when it is clear. True?
